Im confused because I don’t know if I have to look for the joist when I’m working in hardwood or softwood?
Awesome.. just moved in to a rental and the floor sucks.. creeks like my back
Everyone: “DONT do this!!! Don’t be stupid and randomly drill into your floorboard! I’ve been building houses for 80 years! Don’t do this!!!”
Ok so how do I fix the squeaky floorboard?
Also everyone: crickets 😅
This is just ridiculous. Are you sure there are no electrical cables or water pipes under those floorboards?….
Thanks for the video. I feel confident I can do this myself 🙂
Didn't expect to watch the whole thing, sending this to a friend.
Blindly driving screw's into a floor is asking for trouble
Nicely done!!
Nice safety footwear 😅
Id just take the carpet up and use a couple screws
Saving 25 dollars on that "tool" and possibly thousands in repairing water damage or even funeral cost playing drill bingo
Oh my closet soooo loud. Thanks!
I would need about 600 screws in my floor to fix all the squeaks!
After reading all the comments, I rather live with the squeaky noise 😩🤣
What could possibly go wrong?
But if it does….give my Handyman service a call! Our rates are reasonable!
I was a carpet layer for 50 yrs. This guy has no idea what he's doing. Don't ever do this to your carpet. Most are a continuous weaved pile. The thread will catch the pile & rap it around the screw pulling it the length of the carpet! The carpet should be pulled back & the floor inspected properly.
I’m not taking advice from someone who doesn’t wear socks (thumbnails pic). Your shoes are full of dead skin cells.
Thumbs Up for those who left the screws in the carpet while you did the rest only to stump your feet on them multiple times.
This is so stupid. Just buy a box of 2" construction nails, pull up the carpet and nail the subfloor to the joists. Reinstall carpet with a carpet knee kicker.
If you resort to this method why not use an actual stud finder ? I mean you even slipped up at one point early in the video and said stud finder by mistake and then proceeded to screw down random sections of flooring !
My first thoughts was the pipes and let me tell you, the comments did not disappoint from all the plumbers, electricians and carpenters 😂
Why not lift carpets so you see
What a fkn idiot randomly putting 3 inch screws into the floor. It's a wonder he didn't hit a damn wire or pipe. Hell or a drain!
Shout out to all of the kind tradesmen who warned about the possibility of doing major damage to pipes or wiring if you don't know what your actually drilling into. I bought this kit a couple of years ago and have been to nervous to do this myself. Now I know why. Thanks a million for the heads up ! You all rock !
Doesn’t even work. Went into the joist.. nothing. 0-10 on this product.
All these negative comments must be professional floor fixer people tilting their nose up at a quick fix. Like a chef would laugh at a microwave meal. But it does the trick.
Having new carpet righgt now….and the guys state you cannot fix squeak….THANK YOU!
YES YOU CAN!!!
Just hit the joist at 16” . Squeek fixed
Will a stud and wire finder work through the carpet?
Thank you so much. Best explanation and tutorial video on YouTube.
As a software engineer of 30 years I can safely say you should read the comment from the plumber of 50 years and the carpenter of 900 years.
I see a lot of experts talking about not using this. Two things, 1) you can use a stud finder to limit the possibility of screwing into pipes or wires under the floor however with newer model homes that it less likely if you are following the newer building rules and 2) if screws were used when the flooring was put down instead of using nails because they are cheaper, although it is not represented in the cost, this would not be such a hot topic. But to each his own. Fix the shoddy, quick building, and some of the DIY quick fixes would go away.
Talk about gambling. Also make sure you will never want to pull that carpet up to show the hardwood floors underneath.
How would you hit a water line if you screw directly inbto a joist?
I have installed carpet since 1964 (now 82 years old)..The best way to make these squeak repairs is to pull the carpet back, cut the pad with a sharp utility knife and using a RING SHANK NAIL or 2 inch screws attach the sub floor to the joist..Test it before re attaching anything..Stand over the squeak and rock back in forth (making sure the problem is corrected)–Then put the pad together —using duct tape and re-stretch the carpet back….
I’m a carpenter with 40 years experience. Please do not try this unless you want a flood or electrical short circuit!
Lmfao. Stupidity on another level.
Squeaky floors add character to your home and may alert you to invaders, or teens trying to sneak out. I love them.
What kind of screws are those?
I see so many warning comments. Yes, everyone should get blueprints of their houses from the original builders when they buy the house. Now you see just one example for why (if you live in the US this should be somewhat feasible).
Ive been playing football manager for nearly 20 years now and all i can say now is that im still playing 2011 edition with AS Roma and the secret behind the success is to be patient and do not buy a lot of top players at the same time, looking to win everything as soon as possible, as this will backfire
This is terrifying to watch. 😆
